Data Scientist

Data Scientist at Statice

Companies collect data in an ongoing manner in order to derive new information about customers, business opportunities and to fuel new product solutions. With stricter data regulations such as the GDPR coming into action in the near future, data privacy has become an entirely new asset for companies.

Statice helps companies leverage existing and new private customer data in a privacy-preserving manner. To achieve goal, we generate synthetic data, which protects sensitive personal information from external parties as no original data is ever handed out. The synthetic dataset preserves the majority of relevant statistical properties like domain bounds and correlations and can safely be shared with external data owners or data experts without any privacy concerns. This helps to unlock the full value of personal data while staying entirely GDPR compliant.

Statice is looking for a new Data Scientist. We are looking for an individual who cares deeply about data privacy and is motivated by the challenges and opportunities that it offers as well as a strong and experienced candidate who can pragmatically and confidently handle statistical and algorithmic challenges around the core Statice intelligence.

You will be working on state of the art data science challenges. Your tasks will include:

  • Understanding, optimizing and maintaining our current algorithms
  • Implementing latest research on differential privacy
  • Supporting our customers in implementing machine learning applications
  • Taking Statice to the next level by incorporating deep learning methods into its core intelligence

All in all, an exciting opportunity to learn new skills and work with cutting-edge technologies.

Who we are looking for:

  • Degree in applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering or related quantitative field. MS or PhD preferred.
  • 2+ years of work experience in data science or related field.
  • Exceptional programming skills in Python and its open-source data science ecosystem (numpy, scipy, pandas, scikit-learn, matplotlib, jupyter notebooks).
  • Extensive experience in data mining and munging, statistical analysis, and machine learning using state-of-the-art methods.
  • Problem-solving aptitude.
  • Proficiency in English, German is a plus.
Nice to haves
  • Practical experience with deep neural networks and Tensorflow (and maybe even with generative adversarial networks).
  • Technical knowledge of data privacy techniques (like k-anonymization or pseudonymisation) and mathematical foundations of differential privacy.
  • Experience with software development in teams.
  • Knowledge of Docker.

We are looking forward to your application. In case you have any questions, you’re welcome to approach our HR-lead for this position, Marko.
