DMK: Dairy Platform

How we built a supplier platform for Germany’s largest dairy

Challenge

Our customer DMK, one of the largest German dairy companies, approached us with a new idea: to provide a platform to their suppliers, the farmers.

We had been working with DMK, the largest German dairy for a few years when they approached us with a new idea: to provide a platform to their suppliers, the farmers.

The aim of the project was to develop a two-sided marketplace as a platform that offers both farmers and the dairy access to all relevant information, e.g. milk quality data, milk money statements, or general updates. In addition, the platform should be used as a gateway to additional services, such as an online shop where farmers can obtain materials for events and visitor groups for the farms.

Solution

We set up hypotheses and created a clickable prototype, which we tested in interviews with potential users to evaluate the concept.

The role of the wattx team was to consolidate all the information available to our client and develop the first solution. Based on the requirements and needs in digitizing the information, we supported our client in the technical specification and creation of a roadmap before proceeding with the actual development process of the platform. We set up hypotheses and created a clickable prototype to test with potential users based on the insights gained. Furthermore, we developed an MVP to test the marketplace with a selected number of farmers.

Outcome

Based on the result of the user interviews, we developed an MVP to test the platform with a selected number of farmers.

Based on our analysis and expert interviews, we were able to define a clear product concept and develop an MVP for the platform while expanding the product's feature scope into the future.

We have thoroughly enjoyed working with wattx team. They were able to pinpoint the value-adding features early on and combine them with features that were easy-to-implement.
